India Rejects Trump’s Kashmir Mediation and Trade Claim
India has firmly rejected Trump’s Kashmir mediation and trade claim, issuing a strong clarification against the former U.S. President’s recent remarks. The Indian government made it clear that Kashmir is a bilateral issue and trade was never used as leverage.
India Rebuffs Trump’s Trade Claim During Tension With Pakistan
President Trump recently claimed that his administration offered trade incentives to India in exchange for easing tensions with Pakistan. He suggested this “leverage” helped prevent escalation.
However, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) promptly responded, saying no trade discussions took place during the diplomatic engagement related to the India-Pakistan crisis. The Indian government dismissed the claim as “factually incorrect” and emphasized that trade and conflict resolution were never connected.
India Rejects Trump’s Kashmir Mediation Offer
In addition to the trade remarks, Trump’s Kashmir mediation proposal was again brought up. India reiterated that it has never requested any third-party involvement in the Kashmir issue.
Citing the Simla Agreement and Lahore Declaration, India maintained that all talks with Pakistan must be bilateral. India strongly opposed any foreign interference and stressed that resolving Kashmir requires Pakistan to stop cross-border terrorism.
Conclusion: India’s Position Remains Firm
The Indian government’s position is consistent: India rejects Trump’s Kashmir mediation and trade claim outright. It maintains its sovereignty and refuses to allow external parties to influence its national security or foreign policy.
